About Meriday Preschool
Learning Through Play

Our Philosophy
It is the philosophy of Meriday Preschool that children should be encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences in which all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment.
We believe children learn best through meaningful play. Play is a child’s work, and learning occurs during developmentally appropriate, child-centered activities. Our play-based, child-centered program reflects the integration of physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language, and self-help areas for the total development of the child. Meaningful play encourages curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving, which allows individual growth and the development of a positive self-image. Children acquire knowledge through the active exploration of their environment. Consequently, it is the teacher’s responsibility to provide a learning-enriched environment that provides stimulating and challenging experiences for them. The teacher then acts as a facilitator: encouraging, promoting, and reinforcing a child’s attempts, questions, skill development, and discoveries.
Enrichment for All
Meriday Preschool accepts children regardless of race, creed, nationality, or religious background, from six weeks of age to 5 years. Admission is based on available space for a particular age group. An application for enrollment needs to be filed with the Director of the center; this can be done at any time during the year. A waiting list will be maintained, and parents will be notified as space becomes available. There is no fee to be placed on the waiting list; enrollment is never guaranteed. Current Meriday families who wish to enroll a new sibling are given priority over those families on the waiting list. To be eligible for additional sibling enrollment, all tuition payments must be current with no outstanding balance. There will be an annual non-refundable registration fee due at the time of acceptance to the program. Meriday is a year-round operating center and does not reserve space available for anyone who wishes to withdraw over the summer.
Meriday offers 5-day, 3-day, and 2-day options for enrollment. All part-time families are required to have a set schedule. Part-time schedules may not be altered to accommodate holiday or inclement weather closings.

INCLUSION
Meriday Preschool believes that children of all ability levels are entitled to the same opportunities for participation, acceptance, and belonging in child care. We will make every reasonable accommodation to encourage full and active participation of all children in our program based on his/her capabilities and needs.
NON-DISCRIMINATION
At Meriday Preschool equal educational opportunities are available for all children, without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, parent/provider political beliefs, marital status, sexual orientation, or special needs, or any other consideration made unlawful by federal, state or local laws. Educational programs are designed to meet the varying needs of all students.
